For many years, Paris was always a place I had wanted to visit and explore, the charm, character and diversity of life in such a bustling city was unlike any other city in Europe. Whilst visiting the United Kingdom, I finally had the opportunity to go on a 3 day excursion, and explore at my leisure. What I discovered did not disappoint me in the slightest.
During the quick trip, I purposely chose to ignore photographing touristic traps such as the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre, as beautiful as they may be, I felt no urge to capture them and avoided them. Instead, I focused my energy on capturing the everyday life which can seen around this city.
The character in this image, was sitting on one side of a bridge, generally ignored by passers-by on their way to queue up to get inside the Norte-dame cathedral. The gentleman was gazing off, seeming to be lost in though, that is until I dropped some change into his mini suitcase and he leapt up and into life, like a coin operated toy.
Although the story hidden behind his eyes is unknown, he still managed to crack a big grin at me, happy to be given a little help and attention. After a few minutes of playing, he sat back down, as if his meter had expired... awaiting for another person to top him up.
