On a recent trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, I had the pleasure of staying near Avon Pier. On the last morning of the trip, I headed over there very early for sunrise with my Intrepid Camera and loaded with Kodak Ektar, my favorite for landscapes.
The sunrise did not disappoint and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the first hues of light come across the horizon prior to the sun making its entrance. Then the moment for the sun to make its entrance came and lo and behold, the sun was behind a cloud. As a result, the light remained very soft as the sun continued on its rise.
Once the sun got right above the pier (and my meter kept reading faster and faster), I made this exposure and I love the fact that the waves are almost suspended and yet the early morning light is still so soft and pastel colored throughout the image.
This was a fantastic way to end the trip and it now has me yearning to go back even more than before.
