This was one of the first photos I ever took on film, from about 6 years ago. It still stands as one of my favourites even after the thousands of photos I've taken since then, and the amount I've learned about photography in that time.
When this was captured I was still in my college tv/film production program, and this photo actually came from the first roll I ever had to shoot for a 35mm assignment.
I was ecstatic that I even had pictures to show (some in my class were not so lucky), but when I saw how this one had come out I was over the moon. It was one of those moments when everything clicked and I realized I might have a chance with this 'stuff'.
I keep a print of it on my wall, even though I've had 'better' photos taken since this. It's nice to remind myself that before I really knew all that much about cameras, and before I got the fancier gear with all the bells and whistles, I still had an eye for photography, which when it comes down to it is the most important tool in the whole kit.
