While exploring the depth of Chinatown with model Kathryn Jordan for a series that didn't quite turn out - we came across a small shop, lit with warm light with just the right amount of 'grunge'. It was such a cinematic area, I wanted to frame for the unconventional 2.33 aspect ratio, giving the shot the same cinematic feel that I felt in the location.
The fact that I happened to have Cinestill 800 loaded in the camera was a blessing. We shot about three frames, and this one was the final one, ending up perfectly how we wanted it.
A story of a girl, lost in a city she doesn't know, wistfully exploring for where she fits. It's such a magical shot to me, Chinatown and Cinestill were basically made for each other!
